Genital wart removal is a problem that millions of people have trouble with. Having genital warts is very embarrassing to most people, and people tend to avoid seeking out treatment for this disease to avoid such embarrassment. This could lead to increasing health risks.
Knowing about this disease is the first step to conquering it. This disease is called genital warts because that is where they occur. They vary in shapes and sizes. Some are flat and some are bulky formations. This type is mainly caused by strains of HPV human papillomavirus. Genital warts are transferred through having sexual activity with a person who is infected with the virus, and there is only a 70% of contracting it even then.
Although there is no known cure for HPV you need to know how to treat it if you suspect that you have it. You can also get and HPV vaccine. This will lower your risk of contracting the virus. But if you already have the virus the vaccine could prevent further wart spread or growth.
This virus can also go undetected. Yet still you should consider genital wart removal when warts feel itchy and irritated. There are a number of cream and gel solutions which you can apply yourself. These types of applications are usually over the counter but it is always better to consult with your doctor. Other treatments for genital warts could be through antibodies and protein injections called interferon. This treatment is known to be expensive and inconsistent in its patients.
Another way for removing genital warts is surgical removal. This procedure is even more expensive than the others. Surgically removing genital warts has the same procedure as removing any other wart. The wart or warts are applied with liquid nitrogen which freezes the wart for easier removal.
Just be sure to get treatment for genital warts early on. Most importantly is that if they go untreated they can cause other serious health risk suck as cervical cancer for women. There are also various tests that can be taken for early detection like a biopsy. This is when a skin sample is taken from a wart; Pap smear for women and anal Pap test for men. All and all early detection is the best way to effectively catch and treat embarrassing virus know as genital warts
